The inclusion of ineligible names in the list prepared through the Awas Plus app raised many questions. Many families who already own pucca houses or have high incomes were also included in the list. This situation could affect the rights of those truly in need of the scheme. Therefore, the Rural Development Department has ordered all districts to conduct a thorough investigation of beneficiaries.

How many names were included in the Awas Plus app list

According to the government, the names of 10.49 million families across the state were included in the Awas Plus app list. In Muzaffarpur alone, the names of over 443,000 people were included. However, a detailed analysis revealed that many of these names were ineligible. Therefore, 100% of households will now be re-verified.

Verification of beneficiaries will be done at three levels

1. Panchayat level verification

At this stage, the Panchayat Secretary and Employment Officer will visit the beneficiaries’ homes directly to verify the information. This is the initial and most important stage.

2. Block-level verification

Here, the Block Accountant, Executive Assistant, Housing Supervisor, and Panchayati Raj Officer will jointly re-verify the records.

3. Final verification at the district level

At the district level, the BDO, DRDA Director, and senior officials will ensure that no ineligible names are left on the list.

What 22 points will the verification be based on

The verification process will focus on 22 points set by the government. These include: Beneficiary’s name, PMAY-G ID, caste, village, family income, pucca house status, motorised vehicle, agricultural land size, bank information, and the family’s actual financial status. All these points will be analysed based on site inspections and information from neighbours.

Which families will be considered ineligible

The government has issued clear ineligibility criteria, based on which names will be removed.

Families with pucca houses

Those who already have a permanent house are not eligible for the scheme.

KCC card with a limit of Rs. 50,000 or more

This falls under the category of economically capable families.

Member with a Government Job

If a family member is in government service, they cannot avail the benefit.

Families with Non-Agricultural Businesses

Families that run businesses registered with the government are also ineligible.
